Those three words have so far defined who I am at college, and I couldn’t be happier!
The Leader Advancement Scholarship(LAS) is a very unique program at Central Michigan University. Over 2,000 people apply to be selected into this program and only the top 40 students-leaders are chosen to receive the award. Through this program every student-leader in the cohort becomes involved on campus and the community. In addition to the involvement this program provides each student with a educational plan to obtain a minor in Leadership. Being a part of this program is more than just the scholarship, its all of the experiences that come with it.
Through these 40 people and the cohorts before and after me, I have made so many connections with students, staff, and leaders on and off campus. My favorite part about this program is the fact that it has created a home away from home. Coming to Central as a freshman wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought it would be because of the warm welcome I had from the Leadership Institute. I’m proud to be a Leader Advancement Scholar. I’m proud to have the Leadership Institute as my base. I’m proud to call Central Michigan University my home.
